Sithembiso Mavimbela, started at Sasfin in 2016 on a learnership programme, and now works in the Capital Equipment Finance Division. On 29 July, he hosted a music and charity run event called the ‘Winter Gospel Worship Experience’, fuelled by his passion for music and the desire to make an impact. For the event he partnered with an organisation in Soweto called the Bathopele Foundation.
To be part of the charity run, people had to bring food parcels and clothing which was distributed to various communities and families in need by the Bathopele Foundation. “It gave people purpose,” he says, to be part of something that created an impact.
“This is creating impact and bringing change to people’s lives.”
Many music artists were there to show their support at Mavimbela’s charity event, where they helped market it on their social media profiles to raise awareness. “The atmosphere was great,” he says. Overall, it was an incredible day, in which people brought as much as they could to contribute to the communities and families in need.
Mavimbela says the best way he knows how to gather people is through music. In the end he had one goal behind this charity event, and that was to make an impact in people’s lives. He wanted to create an environment where people could come together in one place and make a genuine impact with one small act of kindness.
He said that this event has inspired him to carry on making a difference in other people’s lives, and he will continue to build something that will have a great impact in the community and with various organisations.
