Fund Managers, Robert Towell and Koebie Malick, talks us through the Sasfin BCI Equity Fund, focusing on two stocks in the fund. These stocks, Transaction Capital, and British American Tobacco, have traditional aspects and new growth divisions that complement the business.
Robert Towell unpacks the Transaction Capital business, a great growth driver for the portfolio with defensive properties in the SA Taxi business. SA Taxi is a privately held commercial enterprise, it is a member of the Transaction Capital group of businesses, which went public in June 2012 on the JSE.
Since its inception in 1996, SA Taxi has grown to employ more than 1252 people. The company's exclusive focus is on cultivating people using the taxi industry as a platform. 31 543 of the estimated 250 000 taxis operating on South African roads are financed by SA Taxi.
Another attractive value stock is British American Tobacco (BAT). Koebie Malick provides insight on this multinational company that manufactures and sells cigarettes, tobacco, and other nicotine products. The business affords investors local portfolio diversification and global exposure.
