It’s 5pm on a Tuesday evening and the Sandton CBD is buzzing with the sounds of rush hour. In the centre of this, high above the noise of traffic, on the 14th floor of the Sasfin building, dozens of Sasfin staff gather. They’ve skipped the madness of rush hour for an hour of rebounding – choosing to unwind before they head out for the day. Led by the bubbly Lisa Raleigh and Jono Swift of Bounti, this special Women’s Month event embodies the notion of female empowerment and celebration.

More than 60% of our workforce here at Sasfin is female. From fearless leaders like our CFO and the CEO of Sunlyn, to the dedicated women across every department, they all contribute to our success and innovation. It was only fitting that for Women’s Month we partner with leading women who are doing remarkable things in their respective spaces to celebrate and empower our female staff. This event was more than just a fitness session; it was a celebration of the women who make up Sasfin and their strength and resilience.

Why Rebounding?

Lisa Raleigh is a certified personal trainer, nutrition coach and life coach with a passion for wellness. She is the founder and driving force behind the Bounti movement. A movement promoting health and wellness through rebounding – a form of exercise that uses a mini-trampoline, known as a rebounder, to deliver a low-impact, full-body workout. This unique approach to fitness has taken the wellness world by storm, offering a fun and effective way to stay fit.

Bounti exudes a warm, female-driven energy – their classes are known for their high energy, inclusive environments and places you can both sparkle and get a good sweat in. The ability to do rebound workouts at home has made it possible for countless women (and men) to fit movement into their busy lives, no matter their fitness level.

“It’s empowering to reclaim your fitness at home,” Lisa shared, “it fits easily into your day, no matter how hectic your schedule.” This accessibility is a game-changer for women juggling work, family, and other responsibilities, as it allows them to prioritise their health without sacrificing time or comfort.

The only Rebound You Need

Lisa brought her infectious energy to our Women’s Month celebration, transforming the rooftop into a lively, bouncing haven. With Lisa’s guidance, our staff members experienced firsthand the joy and benefits of rebounding. More than just a workout, rebounding leaves you with a sense of empowerment and joy.

That’s not just words, as one of our participants, a long-time sceptic of high-energy workouts, shared. “Women’s Month is about celebrating what we’re capable of. Many of us put ourselves in boxes, thinking ‘I can’t do that, it’s too difficult.’ But once you try rebounding, you realise you’re capable of so much more. It’s fun, and when something is fun, you prioritise it. When you show up, you get results. It’s about connecting, celebrating our bodies, and finding joy in movement. There’s more to life than work and obligations – there’s space for fun, music, and honouring our bodies.”

For another participant, it was the challenges of new moves (and rewards) that excited her.  “Today’s session was fun and challenging. The ‘washing machine’ move was tough but effective – my abs are burning! For those who missed out, you’ll regret it. We’re bouncing our way to six-packs while you’re stuck with spring rolls!”

For others it was a refreshing change of pace and a chance to destress and be in the moment.. “This event was a perfect stress-buster. Rebounding is ideal for shaking off mid-year slumps. As a Women’s Month initiative, it was fantastic. We bounced, danced, and felt the camaraderie. It’s a fun, judgement-free zone,” said one participant While another found it a refreshing challenge after a long day, “It’s deceptively tough on the calves but an excellent way to de-stress. This was exactly the rebound I needed. I’d do it every day!”

Thank you to Lisa Raleigh and her Bounti team for bringing your energy and passion to our rooftop and giving us an experience to bounce for!
